The greatest act of resilience

Easter! The day of greatest joy in the Christian year has arrived again. Life has conquered death and we can live with firm hope and expectation of what is coming.

In our part of the world, the seasons beautifully resonate with the Story. In autumn and winter, nature has gone to sleep or apparently has died, now new life emerges everywhere. Small ducklings in the water. Hedges spring to life. Trees blossom and bud. Life is conquering death all around us, however dire the news.

This new creation all started with one person. Jesus, the Risen One. In an earlier blog, I mentioned the Great Commandment as a divine pointer to the integrated life. “And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength” (Mark 12:30, echoing Deuteronomy 6:5).

Jesus lived that perfectly integrated life to the glory and joy of God the Father. Jesus was the most resilient person who ever lived, and his resurrection was the greatest act of resilience. Who has ever laid down his life to take it up again? He truly was the Christ, the Christ-ilient.

Through faith in Him, we can experience the power of his resurrection and share his risen life. If we want to become resilient, even Christilient, we have to learn from Him.
